slingsman Definition

A slingsman is a soldier or sailor who specializes in using a sling, a weapon consisting of a loop of rope or leather in which a heavy projectile, such as a stone or a dart, is placed and thrown by the force of the arm. Slings were used in ancient military contexts but are no longer in active use in most modern armies.
