A lobopod refers to a type of leg found on some early arthropods and on certain modern animals, characterized by a thick, rounded, multi-segmented limb with a soft protective covering. These structures are thought to have evolved before true jointed legs and appear primarily in very early arthropod species such as the tardigrades and some Euarthropoda.
