astigmoscope Definition

An ophthalmic instrument for measuring astigmatism in the eye by means of a plate or prism of variable curvature. It is used in ophthalmology for diagnosing and evaluating the degree of astigmatism which is a defect affecting the focal point of the eye leading to blurred vision.
